Dr. Aguilera earned her medical degree from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences Cuba where she also completed a residency in ophthalmology. She completed a pediatric residency and another ophthalmology residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Albert Einstein School of Medicine New York, followed by a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Certified by the American board of Ophthalmology and American Board of Pediatrics.

La Dra. Aguilera obtuvo su título de médico en el Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas de Cuba, donde también completó una residencia en oftalmología. Realizó una residencia en pediatría y otra residencia en oftalmología en el Bronx Lebanon Hospital, de la Escuela de Medicina Albert Einstein de Nueva York, seguida de una beca de subespecialidad (fellowship) en oftalmología pediátrica en el Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Está certificada por la Junta Americana de Oftalmología (American Board of Ophthalmology) y por la Junta Americana de Pediatría (American Board of Pediatrics).
